  • Stock F12X w/ MacsBoost on 93

The same F12X on 93, the day before the 87 log. 55 minutes of WOT pulls with IAT running 172-180°F, hotter than the 87 ride. Refer to Chart 4: example knock event at 2887s, five minutes into a mostly steady pull at 6,100 rpm, 176F IAT, after the 5th knock event the ECM pulls 100 RPM and Boost declines from 14.1psig to 13psig. In the following 30s, boost and rpm recover and the pull ends. The ECM pulled 1 degree of timing during the knock event and some level of knock protection remained for the rest of that WOT pull. Several knock events cost no boost at all. Boost psi here is read using MAP due to MacsBoost modifying the TCP value. During the WOT pull from 1978-2030s, the machine was heat soaked with IATs at 179F limiting rpms to around 6025rpm while boost remained at 14.3 psi.

None needed. This is the 93 octane baseline for the same machine's 87 octane log — same pulls, hotter intake air, and boost stays up. Some knock events but not nearly as bad as the 87 log.

  • Stock F12X w/ Gentune ECM & MacsBoost on 93

The same F12X on 93 with both the Gentune ECM and MacsBoost fitted. 47 minutes with 5,810 loaded samples at WOT above 5,500 rpm, IAT reaching 179.6°F, and not one knock event anywhere in the log - because the Gentune ECM deletes the knock sensor, not because nothing knocked. Spark sits flat at 25.0° through every pull and no timing is ever pulled: with no sensor fitted there is nothing for the ECM to retard on, so read the boost and rpm this ride held, not the absence of knock. Boost psi here is read using MAP, as on the other MacsBoost logs, because MacsBoost modifies the TCP value. Refer to Chart 4: the 173-second pull from 1707s starts at 100°F IAT and finishes at 176°F, holding around 6,050 rpm and 14.5 psig the whole way through the climb. The hottest pull, 793-984s, sits at 177-180°F IAT with oil at 214°F and still holds 14.3 psig at the same rpm. The longest stretch is 242-787s, nine minutes at WOT holding 6,020 rpm and 14.1 psig.

None needed. Gentune ECM and MacsBoost together on 93 - no knock events, no timing pulled, and boost holds 14.3-14.7 psig through IATs of 180°F. Heat soak costs about 0.2 psig here and no rpm at all.

  • Stock F12X w/ MacsBoost on 87 Knocking

Repeated WOT pulls, IAT limited to 160°F by ECM due to knock events, and up to 1.25° of timing pulled. Refer to Chart 4: example knock event at 962s, IAT at 160F, 4.6 psig of Boost pulled, 400 rpm drop, 1.25 degrees timing pulled. ECM keeps knock protection enabled for remaining 30s of pull and Boost remains below 10psig. Boost psi here is read using MAP, instead of TCP/Boost, due to MacsBoost installtion. These WOT pulls had so many knock events rendering MacsBoost almost unusable. The WOT run between 938-990s was one of the better pulls.

Do not run 87 Octane on a stock machine with MacsBoost. There were several significant knock events drastically limiting performance to the point where the stock machine on 93 octane would outperform. Additionally, using a Gentune ECM under these conditions is likely to result in significant damage and not recommended.

  • Stock F12X on 87

The same machine on 87 with the stock ECM, the same day as the MacsBoost 87 log. 29 minutes with 2,218 loaded samples at WOT above 5,500 rpm, IAT 160-167°F, and not one knock event. Cleanest run is around 1110s and lasts for 55 seconds. Boost holds around 12.2 psig and RPM around 5950 while IAT rises from 150F to 165F.

None needed. Stock ECM baseline on 87. No knock events were observed in this data set and this machine ran fairly well on 87 octane on this particular day under these conditions. However, it is not advised to normalize running 87 octane fuel.

  • F12X W/ SOLAS ON 93 BAD SOLENOID

Limited to about 5,300 rpm and 5 psig for the whole ride, with no fault code stored. Refer to Chart 4: the 136-second pull from 576s sits pinned at 97-99% TPS with rpm flat at 5,306 and boost flat at 5.3 psig. The Boost Control Solenoid (Waste Gate Solenoid Valve) was stuck closed, sending all the air to the pneumatic actuator and holding the wastegate partially open.

  • Stock F12X w/ Gentune ECM on 93 Stuck Turbo

Nineteen minutes of an F12X that will not make boost. The rider holds WOT for stretches of five and six minutes and rpm sits at 3,750 the whole way, against the 6,030 rpm the same hull and the same Gentune ECM made on 93 ten days earlier. Refer to Chart 4: across the 382-second pull from 702s the throttle never drops below 96%, rpm holds 3,740, and both pressure sensors sit slightly BELOW atmospheric for the entire pull - TCP -1.0 psi, MAP -0.9 psi. The highest reading anywhere in the log is 0.09 psi. IAT never rises above 90°F, against 158-163°F on the healthy Gentune log, because nothing was compressing the intake air. Spark sits at 36.5°, the timing this ECM runs when it sees minimal load. No fault code is stored.

Length, the recorded date, IAT, ECT and EOT are read from each log on publish — all three temperatures are averages across the WOT pull beside them. RPM and boost are what the craft held across that same pull, read off the log by whoever submitted it: a jet pump unloads over a wave and the engine spikes for a sample or two, so the largest sample in a file reports the wave rather than the motor. Where a log lists more than one pull, the figures read across, a line each. Open lands on the pull, so anything here can be checked against the log.
